BECAUSE he was a victim of bullying in primary school, actor Andy Teh started to become active in the sport of taekwondo when he was 10 years old.

Although at first he wanted to get back at the bully, Andy eventually considered the martial art to make his parents proud.

“I have been a victim of bullying, but not physically. I still remember, when I was 9 years old, I had to be bullied by three boys when I wanted to go to school.

“When I was 10 years old, I started participating in taekwondo at school because at that time I thought of repaying their actions.

“However, over time I realized that martial arts is not aimed at revenge. When I started learning, my aim was no longer in that direction (revenge).

“I want to make myself and my parents proud of my abilities,” said Andy.

Andy shared this when met at the launch of his martial arts gym Elitez Mixed Martial Arts located in Shah Alam on Saturday.

Telling more about his involvement in this sport, Andy also collaborated with several non-governmental organizations to mobilize anti-bullying campaigns in schools around Selangor.

“What I do is not just giving lectures, but rather approaching school students to find out their problems.

“Some are victims of bullying as well as bullies. From there we will explain to them the actions that should be taken to stop the culture of bullying,” he explained.

For info, Andy once won the title of champion for the sport through an international level competition in 2020 which took place in Petaling Jaya, Selangor.
