Olympic Carnival: P.Pinang received MBOR recognition
GEORGE TOWN: Penang received recognition from the Malaysia Book of Records (MBOR) as the first state to host an Olympic Carnival in the country in an effort to unearth new sports talent.
Malaysian Olympic Council President Tan Sri Mohamad Norza Zakaria said the state government also received the MBOR certificate for organizing the event twice, in 2019 and this year.
He said the organization provided valuable experience especially in the effort to produce more athletes and young talents in the state.
“With such an extraordinary celebration that involved more than 10,000 Penang residents in 2019, it has once again sparked the idea to hold it again in 2022,” he told reporters at the MBOR Certificate of Recognition Presentation Ceremony here yesterday.
Earlier, MBOR Chief Executive Officer Datuk Seri Dr Michael Tio handed over the certificate to Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow.
