Official website hacked, JIM assures no information leakage
PUTRAJAYA: The official website of the Immigration Department (JIM) was hacked at 2am today by a hacker calling himself ‘CaptainSmok3r’.
The matter was confirmed by Director General of Immigration Datuk Ruslin Jusoh in a statement today that the cyber attack in the form of defacement has resulted in the front page of the JIM website being changed to display another image.
He said JIM has taken immediate corrective measures by closing the website access from public access and doing maintenance work and security configuration of the website.
“The department insists that no information has been leaked,” said Ruslin, who also advised the public not to make assumptions or speculations that could cause confusion and disturb public order.
Ruslin said the JIM website is expected to recover and be accessible to the public again in the near future.
He said access related to JIM services such as myIMMs and SSPI were however not affected by the cyber attack incident.
JIM’s Information Technology Division has also held discussions and collaborated with the National Cyber Security Agency (NACSA) and CyberSecurity to assist the department in strengthening the website, he said.
