‘No joke at all!’ – The action of women ‘undressing’ on the comedy stage was criticized

THE ACTION of a woman who was accused of insulting Islam through her performance on the stage of a comedy club in Taman Tun Dr Ismail in the capital recently drew criticism from many, including among national comedians.

Popular comedian Harith Iskander said the woman’s action of taking off her hijab and clothes until she was half naked while performing was “not funny.”

In fact, it is not a stand up comedy show , according to him as reported by the Gempak portal .

“This woman is not a comedian.

“What was performed was also not a stand -up comedy show. That’s right, it was performed in an open -air comedy club.

“She can just go to a restaurant and claim to be a chef . Then, upload a video of her cooking while praising herself for being good at cooking.

“Maybe because of her actions, people can say she is not a good chef and is blacklisted. Not all chefs are stupid.

“Only one or two are like that. The situation is the same with her actions at the comedy club,” said Harith through a video recording on Instagram (IG).

Stand up comedy needs to be wise
Harith said that during his 32 years of performing professional stand -up comedy, the content of the jokes presented had to be clever.

“The show is created to make people laugh. Comedians will tell stories in their own way and the audience will laugh.

“The content or topic of a presentation can inject current situations and a variety of different angles.

“The audience laughs because comedians produce comedies that can surprise them. This assignment needs to have wisdom in presenting clever jokes.

“True, laughter is the cure for grief. However, I see this woman is very painful and not funny at all what is presented,” he said.

Open mic
Harith also commented on many questions about why the comedy club allowed the woman to perform.

“It’s an ‘ open mic comedy night ‘ which is also an open event by giving anyone the opportunity to be a comedian.

“If there are 1,000 people joining her including this woman, 999 is not mental like her. This woman wants to do a surprise, thus inviting the attention of many.

“Most comedians in Malaysia are smart. So, don’t beat what they do with what existing comedians do.

“This woman needs help. Hopefully the ‘medicine’ can be used to watch a stand -up comedy show or not have to watch it at all.

“Everyone has a taste. There are performances that aren’t funny, but turn out to be offensive.

“I personally judge this career with the intention of making fun of or offending people.

“This woman is really offending people’s sensitivities with the shock done,” he said.

The same view was also voiced by comedian Shahrol Shiro.

In a post uploaded by Shahrol on his Instagram page, he explained that the woman’s actions had gone too far as a Muslim.

“If you want to make a comedy, there are lines and boundaries. Crossing that line is insulting and you have insulted by using Islamic religious content.

“This is really extreme !! Please investigate the organizers of ‘CrackHouse Comedy Club’ and the stand up comedians involved and stern action should be taken, “wrote Shahrol in the caption.

Meanwhile, an independent preacher Iddin Ramli also shared a short clip that was uploaded on the same platform and stressed that Islam is not insulting, instead it is the woman who looks insulting.

“What is her motive for doing that?

“Even though she tried to insult the religion, but this noble Islam will never be insulted. But what will look contemptible is the woman.

“She said she memorized 15 verses of the Al-Quran, it is not a guarantee that she will enter heaven and it is not a guarantee that she understands religion better than us.

“This guidance belongs to Allah, Allah can give and can take at any time,” he said.

Earlier, a clip showed a woman in a baju kurung and a headscarf introducing herself as a Muslim and memorizing 15 verses of the Quran while taking off her clothes and taking off her hijab.

The woman’s actions caused uneasiness among netizens when Muslims were celebrating Aidiladha.

The Federal Territory Islamic Religious Department (JAWI) is also conducting an investigation into a video that was believed to insult Islam by the woman.

Meanwhile, the owner of the comedy club, Crackhouse Comedy Club in a statement strongly condemned the actions of women who are considered insulting to Islam.

Crackhouse Comedy Club has also lodged a police report at the Taman Tun Dr Ismail Police Station and banned the woman from entering the comedy club’s premises.
