National Day 2022: The oldest base diver among 18 jumps from Kuantan Tower 188

KUANTAN: For the first time, the threshold of independence was celebrated with a little difference in Kuantan last night.

A total of 65 base jumps or ‘ base jumps ‘ were performed from Menara Kuantan 188 as symbolic of the country’s 65 years of independence.

The jump was performed by 18 base divers, who were also joined by some divers from Indonesia, the United States and Singapore.

The event that started at 9pm ended at 12 midnight with the divers carrying the Malaysian and Pahang flags.

More interestingly, the oldest base diver in the world who is still active, Jamaluddin Ismail, 67, who comes from Mentakab, also dived.

Menara Kuantan 188, the second tallest tower in Malaysia, is a new landmark of the city of Kuantan and was inaugurated by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah last year.
