National Day 2022: Over 20,000 flood Medan Bandar Square
ALOR SETAR: The celebration of the 65th National Day at the Kedah State Level in 2022 was celebrated lively and colorful when more than 20,000 residents from all over the state flooded Medan Bandar Square, today.
After two years of not being celebrated, the enthusiasm can be seen when people start gathering as early as 7am along the route from Pekan Melayu to Dataran Medan Bandar in front of the Zahir Mosque.
Sultan of Kedah, Sultan Sallehuddin Sultan of Badlishah and Sultanah of Kedah, Sultanah Maliha Tengku Ariff agreed to go to the Parade and Parade Ceremony.
The ceremony started with the main honor control inspection of the 6th Battalion of the Royal Malay Soldier Regiment (RAMD) Sultan Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah Camp, Jitra which was completed by Sultan Sallehuddin.
Also present was the Menteri Besar of Kedah, Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor.
Before that, more than 6,000 participants consisting of 115 contingents from various agencies including government and private agencies, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), uniformed forces, universities and schools took part in the parade.
Among them, the line-up of Kedah State Legislative Assembly Members, Kedah State Administrative Officers (KCS), Peninsular Malaysia Chiefs Union, Kota Setar District and Land Office, Kedah Irrigation and Drainage Department (JPS) and Kedah State Finance and Treasury Office.
In addition, the parade was also joined by the Kedah Veterinary Services Department, Alor Setar City Council (MBAS), Kedah State Religious Affairs Department (JHEAIK), Kedah State Agriculture Department, Kedah State Health Department and Kedah State Zakat Board (LZNK).
The ceremony was also graced with entertainment performances, the band of the Sultanah Asma National High School (SMKSA) and the singing of the Kulim Corporation Council (MPKK) choir.
