‘My father, my classmates too’
SHAH ALAM: Usually, classmates are those who are the same age or have a close age gap, but it was different for Siti Zulaika Mohamad Sakroji, 20, when she had the opportunity to be in the same class as her own father, Mohamad Sakroji Abbas, 61.
Both took the Videography and Visual Effects Certificate course together at GiatMara Kota Raja, here.
Mohamad Sakroji also shared the initial story of the idea of registering himself with his daughter in 2019 at the institution.
“At first I wanted to send my daughter to take this course.
“Somehow I was also interested in the major, so I asked the GiatMara office if my age could apply to be a trainee as well.
“After they informed me that there was no obstacle to do so,” he said during the grand assembly in conjunction with the GiatMara Selangor Graduation Ceremony at the Management and Science University (MSU) here on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Mohamad Sakroji who lives in Taman Putra Perdana, Puchong also has his own YouTube account to upload videos related to religious lectures.
He said, for the time being, the retiree is self-employed, and sometimes even works part-time as a videographer at weddings.
“I thank the teaching staff for teaching me a lot at this age.
“The learning process was quite time-consuming but with the presence of young students, they helped me,” he said.
In another development, Siti Zulaika informed that she wants to continue her studies in the field of animation after completing her studies at GiatMara.
However, she considered doing so after seeking permission from her father first.
“I am thinking of continuing to study, but I need to ask my father for permission first,” she said.
A total of 834 graduates from GiatMara Malaysia in Selangor successfully completed their studies in their respective fields here on Saturday.
GiatMara Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Azman Azman Jaafar said, a total of 2,380 trainees successfully completed their training and received GiatMara Professional Certificates in Selangor for the years 2019, 2020 and 2021.
