‘My car was burned on fire, I can’t afford to buy a new one’ – Fauziah Nawi tearfully receiving a gift of a car

ACTRESS Fauziah Nawi is thankful that after four years of not having a vehicle to move around, she was finally given a car.

Fauziah received the Tokoh Seri Angkasa 2022 Award and took home a cash prize of RM10,000 and a Mitsubishi Xpander car.

Surprised by the car gift that was announced at the last minute, Fauziah cried and was moved when her prayers were answered.

“For 50 years in the industry I never thought of getting an award, I am honored to receive this award.

“All this is for art children, keep doing it. We do it because we want to do it, not because it’s a gift.

“Actually, God is good to me. I don’t have a car and can’t afford a car because I’m old.

“Tonight, Alhamdulillah… God answered the prayer of having a car… Thank you,” she said after receiving the award.

Fauziah received the award at the final event at the culmination of the Anugerah Seri Angkasa 2022 (ASA2022) on Sunday.

Fauziah, spoke further about her challenges for four years of not having her own vehicle and having to rely on the good services of her closest people.

Fauziah’s Proton Waja car previously caught fire due to a fuse problem and after that she could not afford to buy another vehicle.

“Actually, my car caught fire four years ago due to a fuse problem. Since then, I keep breaking my legs.

“I then depend on the manager to bring me or my children and grandchildren. Sometimes you have to book a GrabCar.

“I really want to have my own car to facilitate movement. If you want to buy, you can’t afford it and you don’t deserve to make a ‘loan’ because you are old.

“When I couldn’t buy it, I used to hope for a lucky draw when I was in an event before but there was no luck.

“Tonight God answered my prayers… I was indeed surprised and moved. At least when I have my car to facilitate daily movement,” she said.

ASA2022 took place at the Putrajaya International Convention Center (PICC) and the culminating night was also attended by the Minister of Communications & Multimedia Tan Sri Annuar Musa.

The culminating night was also enlivened with performances by popular artists such as Datuk M. Nasir, Ella, Misha Omar, Hazama, Haqiem Rusli, Tajul and Datuk Jamal Abdillah.
