‘Mutaah RM1 million is reasonable’ – Lutfya

SHAH ALAM: Actress, Lutfya described the RM1 million mutaah claim against her ex-husband, Dr Che Muhammad Hafiz Che Baharum as a reasonable value, considering the current high cost of living.

Lutfya or her real name Lutfyah Sheikh Omar said, she took the action because she had to plan to live with her only child.

“The claim of RM1 million is my own request, because I have to take care of my children alone, it is not an easy thing,” she said after the proceedings to re-proclaim the mutaah claim at the Syariah High Court here on Wednesday.

She who has been a single mother for the past three years said that her sacrifice after marriage by giving up her popularity as an actress, model and singer is one of the strong reasons for making the application.

“Actually, I took time to file this application, because the effort to get back up, requires quite a long time.

“I never demanded anything from him,” said the 38-year-old actor.

Meanwhile, syarie lawyer Fakhrul Azman Abu Hasan, who represented Lutfya as the plaintiff, said that his party had submitted a statement of claim to Dr Muhammad Hafiz, who acted as the defendant.

“Today, we received the defense statement and the answer from the defendant, as stated in my client’s claim.

“The next instruction is that we need to prepare a statement of evidence and a bond of documents,” he said who attended the case management proceedings before the Registrar, Rashidah Sapingi @ Shafie.

He said, the court then set July 26 for mention of the case.

During the proceedings later, he said, the syariah judge will determine whether all the submitted documents are in order or otherwise, before continuing with the trial session.

In the meantime, when asked about the absence of Lutfya’s ex-husband, this lawyer said that the defendant had been granted an exemption from attendance at the previous proceedings.

Lutfya and Dr Hafiz got married on 26 November 2016 and as a result of that marriage they were blessed with a daughter Laana Haura, 5.

They then divorced at the Petaling District Syariah Lower Court, Shah Alam on 17 June 2020.

After three years of being a widower, Dr Hafiz married actress Julia Farhana on December 14 last year.
