Musk launched a poll on Twitter, his resignation as CEO

WASHINGTON: Billionaire Elon Musk launched a poll on Twitter asking users’ views on his resignation as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the social media platform, Sputnik reported.

“Should I step down as head of Twitter? I will abide by the results of this poll,” Musk tweeted on Sunday.

As of 00:00 GMT on Monday, more than 2.5 million Twitter users took part in the poll, with more than 57 percent supporting Musk’s resignation as CEO of Twitter.

Commenting on the preliminary results, Musk said in another tweet “As the saying goes, be careful what you wish for, because you might get it.”

In late October, Elon Musk finalized the US$44 billion acquisition of Twitter.

Musk overhauled the company’s day-to-day operations, including firing half of his employees and Twitter executives responsible for the platform’s privacy, cybersecurity and censorship.

Before posting a poll on Sunday about his potential resignation as head of Twitter, Musk announced that from now on, “a vote will be taken to determine major policy changes” at the social media platform.
