Musk confirmed the launch of the Starship spacecraft on Monday
MOSCOW: The launch of the Starship spacecraft by Elon Musk’s SpaceX company is scheduled for Monday, April 17, Sputnik reported .
“Tomorrow, test launch,” Musk said on Twitter on Sunday.
SpaceX in a tweet on Sunday said the 150-minute launch window for Starship would open at 8am US (13:00 GMT) on Monday.
Musk told Twitter followers on Sunday that he did not expect a successful SpaceX Starship launch, linking it to the history of the Soviet N1 rocket, which had an impressive rocket design but never reached orbit.
The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) on Friday said it has given SpaceX approval to conduct the first flight test of the fully integrated Starship and Super Heavy rockets it is developing to take humans to Mars.
The FAA says the license is valid for five years.
The FAA also released its current operational plan on Friday stating Starship will launch on April 17 from SpaceX’s launch site in Boca Chica, Texas as well as alternate dates from April 18 to 21.
SpaceX developed Starship, a fully reusable heavy launch vehicle, which was developed to carry crew and cargo to and from Earth, Moon, Mars orbit.
