“Mum still treats me like a child” – Michelle Yeoh
TAN Sri Michelle Yeoh always thinks that her mother, Datin Janet Yeoh has the advantage to appear as a great movie star.
Of course not, the famous Malaysian-born actress who is now becoming more famous in Hollywood has always seen her mother’s love for the art world never fade so that her own son who is now 60 years old is still treated like a 6-year-old child.
According to the Everything Everywhere All At Once movie actor, his 83-year-old mother Janet is very fond of movies and is always optimistic that her son will emerge as a successful movie star.
“My mother is very interested in the whole aspect of staging. In fact, to this day, when we host a birthday party, the event is like a concert. Mom will change into some costumes and she will appear on stage and entertain the guests. Because of that, I believe she can be a great movie star,” said Michelle who is also a candidate for Best Actress Oscar 2023 in an interview with international media recently.
At the age of 60, Michelle unabashedly admits that her mother still treats her like a child, however, understanding that is the way the woman she admires translates her love.
Still ringing in the ears of the famous actress was her mother’s reaction after watching her son’s film Everything Everywhere All At Once.
“Why do you look so old in that movie?” That’s the question that Janet asked her daughter who played the role of Evelyn Wang.
(Everything Everywhere All At Once is a film that opens up the opportunity for Michelle to win many nominations in international film award events)
And Michelle could only laugh as she said: “She still treats me like I’m 6 years old. (If Janet were here right now) My mom would definitely question whether or not I brushed the sign yet? Why not put makeup on your face and wear more beautiful clothes? If we were at home right now, surely my mother would have prepared some clothes for me. That’s her way of showing her love.”
As a child, Michelle never forgets to praise Janet’s greatness who carries out the duties of a mother so well that she called the woman “a true superhero.”
“All mothers are true superheroes. They carry the weight of the world on their shoulders every day. A large number do it,” said Michelle expressing her appreciation for mothers.
