Mrs Malaysia World 2022 entered the Malaysia Book of Records
KUALA LUMPUR: Olivia Nicholas, who will represent Malaysia at the Mrs World 2022 pageant in Las Vegas this month, has already written her name in the Malaysia Book of Records.
The 30-year-old lawyer from Ipoh, Perak, who was crowned Mrs Malaysia World 2022 in October, set a national record when she wore the national dress decorated with the most five-cent coins – as many as 10,000 pieces.
The dress that she will wear at the Mrs World 2022 competition on December 17, was displayed here last night.
Olivia styled the dress, which combined traditional elements of Sabah and Sarawak, and created history in the Malaysian beauty pageant when she emerged as the ‘Destar Siga’ Queen at the event which was also witnessed by representatives from the Malaysia Book of Records.
The five-cent coin has a ‘Destar Siga’ fabric motif, which is an original form of woven fabric originating from the Kadazan Dusun community in Sabah and used as a headdress during traditional ceremonies.
Designer from Sarawak Saran Anak Lagong created the costume, said Mrs World Sdn Bhd National Director Datin Harveen Kaur.
He said Olivia will compete with representatives from over 60 countries to win the Mrs World 2022 crown in Las Vegas from December 10 to 17.
Olivia will be accompanied by her husband Dr Sandeep Menon to the event, she said.
