
MPRA 2022 named Dr Jemilah Mahmood as the Leadership Icon and Siti Nurhaliza as the Community Icon
KUALA LUMPUR: The public relations industry gathered together to recognize outstanding public relations achievements during the Malaysian Public Relations Awards (MPRA) 2022, at the Aloft Hotel, Kuala Lumpur Sentral on Friday.
The prestigious MPRA Awards 2022 organized by the Malaysian Public Relations and Communications Association (PRCA Malaysia) celebrated 38 winners in 15 categories. In addition, the winner of the Best Campaign of the Year Award which is up for grabs is also selected from among the agency entries that won Gold. This year, two distinguished individuals were also awarded the PRCA Leadership Award and the PRCA Community Award.
According to Prof Haji Mohd Said Bani CM Din, President of PRCA Malaysia, “As one of the most prestigious and awaited events in the industry, MPRA 2022 continues to recognize the outstanding achievements and high standards of public relations professionals in the industry. Public relations is about building relationships with the community. It is about winning the hearts and minds of the community, customers and larger target groups. It’s not just about building an image, but also building trust, understanding and customer loyalty.”
MPRA 2022 was successfully organized with encouraging support from various individuals and organizations. The founder of MERCY Malaysia, Tan Sri Dr. Jemilah Mahmood received the 2022 PRCA Malaysia Leadership Award for her exemplary efforts and decisive leadership in humanitarian aid. Tan Sri Dr. Jemilah has become a driving force until MERCY Malaysia is recognized at the global level by being guided by principles based on good governance and inclusive communication. At the same awards ceremony, Malaysia’s prolific singer and best-selling artist, Dato’ Sri Siti Nurhaliza was honored with the PRCA Malaysia Community Award 2022 in recognition of her efforts in promoting unity and harmony in the community through philanthropic contributions and music.
Held for the 14th time, MPRA 2022 once again celebrates the highest achievements of organizations, public relations consultants, and in-house practitioners from both the private and public sectors, universities and individuals.

The winner of the Campaign of the Year Award was Perspetive Strategies for the “#COMETOGETHER” campaign. A campaign with a specific focus on creating a movement towards sexual health education and youth empowerment. The “#COMETOGETHER” campaign has successfully launched a renewed holistic campaign covering a nationwide survey, forums with partner organizations and influencers and workshops on the ground.
As in previous editions, the core of MPRA 2022 is its panel of judges comprising respected senior authors from supporting media houses, as well as senior officials and communication practitioners from the public and private sectors. Each displayed high commitment, professionalism and impartiality to ensure the quality and integrity of MPRA 2022. The judging panel consisted of Datuk Wan Suraya Wan Mohd Radzi, Chief Executive Officer, Institute of Integrity Malaysia; Datuk Seri Abdul Jalil Hamid, Executive Director of Strategic Communications and Chairman’s Office, Securities Commission Malaysia; Tammy Toh, Director of Brand, Communications and Sustainability, Astro Malaysia; Terence Fernandez, Head of Petra News and Managing Editor, The Vibes; Ashwad Ismail, Head and Editor-in-Chief, Astro AWANI; Sherliza Zaharudin, Head of Corporate Communications, Khazanah Nasional; and Adit Rahim, Founder of Pay It Forward Cyberjaya. The head judge is Stefanie Braukmann, Honorary Secretary of PRCA Malaysia.
