
More than 10,000 flood the Ipoh City Square to celebrate the Independence Day
IPOH: Over 10,000 visitors flooded the Ipoh City Square as early as 6pm to witness the 2022 Perak State Level Independence Threshold celebration, here, last night.
The extraordinary celebration was felt by all walks of life after two years of being celebrated in a simple manner following the constraints of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Various interesting programs include performances of various dances including Sewang Orang Asli dance, poetry recitation by Pyan Habib and sketches, saxophone music performance and the presence of guest artist Hael Husaini.
Perak Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad together with his wife Datin Seri Aezer Zubin were also present to celebrate, in addition to the presence of the Perak Exco line-up.
The climax of the ceremony started at 11pm, followed by the opening speech delivered by Saarani.
In his speech, Saarani invited the community to share this year’s National Day theme which is ‘Malaysian Families Strong Together’.
He said, it takes the spirit of the Malaysian Family aspired by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
He said again, this theme invites everyone to strengthen the spirit of solidarity in facing the upcoming challenges which will certainly not be easy.
At the end of his speech, he then handed over the Jalur Gemilang to the enforcement officers of the Ipoh City Council to be flown.
When approaching the moment of 12 o’clock at night, the ‘ countdown ‘ is done before continuing with the chant of “Merdeka”.
Then the song Negaraku and Jalur Gemilang were sung en masse followed by a fireworks display.
