According to reports, the United States and other countries have restricted TikTok from government devices because of fears that China could gain access to user data.
NEW YORK: Members of Parliament in Montana in the United States (US) voted on Friday to ban the social media application TikTok.
With the vote, Montana became the first state to pass a bill banning the popular Chinese-owned application in the US due to concerns about data security, Anadolu Agency reported.
If the bill is signed by Governor Greg Gianforte, the ban will go into effect in January.
The US and other countries have restricted TikTok from government devices out of concern that China could gain access to user data.
