Michelle Yeoh’s success: Just celebrate, no need to be ‘bitter’ – Netizen

WHEN many are celebrating the historic success of Tan Sri Michelle Yeoh in the 95th Academy Awards (Oscars 2023), there are also a small number who still cannot escape from a negative and pessimistic mentality.

On social media, some suggested that Michelle’s victory was not something Malaysians should be proud of, simply because the former Bond girl’s acting career did not start here.

In fact, there are also those who think that the art industry in Malaysia is too backward and narrow that local employees have to migrate abroad to succeed.

However, there are still many who understand that even though Michelle’s success is a personal success, it can still be shared and celebrated by all Malaysians.

What Michelle achieved, they said, should be seen from a positive point of view not because of claims , but simply to share a sense of pride and be an inspiration.

Born and raised in Ipoh, Perak, Michelle began her acting career in Hong Kong after winning the Miss World Malaysia title in 1983.

At the glorious event that took place at the Dolby Theatre, Los Angeles, Michelle won the Best Actress award for her performance in the movie Everything Everywhere All at Once .

Michelle faced rival Andrea Riseborough who starred in To Leslie , Cate Blanchett ( Tar ), Michelle Williams ( The Fablemans ), and Ana de Armas ( Blonde ).

Michelle has also previously won the same trophy at several award ceremonies including the Golden Globe Awards and the Screen Actors Guild Awards (SAG).
