Michelle Yeoh’s best fashion moments this awards season

While mostly known for her talents on the big screen, the actress also has a sharp sense of style and fashion

TAN Sri Michelle Yeoh has made a name for herself in the international film industry through her acting talent and skills in martial arts, but not as much has been said about her eye for fashion on the red carpet. She was after all, a former Miss Malaysia in 1983.

During the recent award season, Yeoh has been quietly rocking her red-carpet appearances, from a Carolina Hererra dress to a Giorgio Armani gown. She is campaigning for science fiction mindbender ‘Everything Everywhere All at Once’, which has received 11 nominations at the Academy Awards and has grossed over US$100 million (RM428 million). The awards show is scheduled for March 13.

In the movie, Yeoh plays Evelyn Quan Wang – an anxious Chinese American owner of a laundromat who finds herself embroiled in a battle across multiple dimensions, while simultaneously trying to mend her relationships with her husband and daughter.

Yeoh rose to prominence for her roles in Hong Kong action cinema of the 1980s, particularly in movies where she starred opposite Jackie Chan, where she made a name for herself by mostly performing her own stunts.

Her role in the Academy Award-winning martial arts drama ‘Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon’ (2000), which followed her Hollywood debut in the Bond film ‘Tomorrow Never Dies’ (1997) increased her popularity among Western audiences.

The Malaysian actress has received critical acclaim for her role and has gone on to win the Best Actress In A Musical Or Comedy Motion Picture category at the 80th annual Golden Globe Awards for her performance. She has also received a nomination for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role for the 2023 SAG Awards.
