Michelle Yeoh is nominated for Best Actress at the Oscars

Ipoh-born starlet in running for Best Actress for role in Everything Everywhere All at Once

Michelle Yeoh previously won the trophy for Best Actress in a Musical/Comedy for her performance in Everything Everywhere All At Once.

At the 80th Golden Globe Awards earlier this month, Tan Sri Michelle Yeoh snagged the Best Actress In A Musical Or Comedy Motion Picture category, making her the first Malaysian to do so.

THE YEAR 2023 may be described as a glorious year for the famous actress from Malaysia, Tan Sri Michelle Yeoh.

Not yet abated by her appearance as the first Malaysian actress to win the trophy for Best Actress in a Musical/Comedy at the Golden Globe Awards, Michelle’s name once again stole the attention of Malaysia and the world.

Yeoh, 60, received her first Oscar nomination in the Best Actress category for her performance in Everything Everywhere All At Once.

The achievement also saw her become the first Malaysian to be nominated in the award.

The announcement was made on Tuesday at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills, California in a live broadcast hosted by actors Riz Ahmed and Alison Williams.

Yeoh will compete alongside Cate Blanchett ( Tar ), Ana De Armas ( Blonde ) , Andrea Riseborough ( To Leslie ) and Michelle Williams ( The Fablemans ) for the award.

Actors in the same film as Yeoh, Ke Huy Quan, Jamie Lee Curtis and Stephanie Hsu were also nominated in the Oscar acting category.

Quan is nominated for Best Supporting Actor while Curtis and Hsu will compete for Best Supporting Actress.

The 95th Academy Awards will be held on March 12 in Los Angeles and hosted by Jimmy Kimmel.

Astro AWANI previously reported that the actress from Ipoh won the trophy for Best Actress in a Musical/Comedy for her performance in the movie Everything Everywhere All At Once.

Yeoh killed other nominees including Lesley Manville through Mrs Harris Goes to Paris , Margot Robbie ( Babylon ), Anya Taylor-Joy ( The Menu ) and Emma Thompson ( Good Luck to You, Leo Grande ).
