
MEASAT-3d is able to level internet access capabilities in urban, sub-rural-PM
KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob is confident that the launch of the MEASAT-3d satellite will increase Internet access in urban and sub-rural areas.
He stressed that it will be able to help bridge the digital divide and at the same time attract more young people to venture into aerospace.
“On a historic day, Measat Global Berhad (MEASAT) has launched the Measat-3d satellite in Kourou, French Guiana.
“With the launch of the MEASAT-3d Satellite, Internet access capabilities in urban and sub-rural areas will be further enhanced throughout the Peninsula, Sabah and Sarawak.
“My hope is for the launch of this satellite to help bridge the digital divide, in turn attracting more young people to venture into aerospace,” he said via a status posted on the social networking site Facebook on Thursday.
The latest MEASAT-3d satellite was successfully launched in Kourou, French Guiana early this morning which will pave the way for efforts to improve the existing system.
It was launched at 6.50 pm local time (5.50 am Malaysian time).
The Prime Minister had earlier witnessed the live launch of the MEASAT-3d satellite at the World Trade Center (WTC) in the capital.
