MCMC, PDRM were asked to investigate defamatory photos of the Prime Minister
KUALA LUMPUR: The Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) were asked to investigate a post on Facebook that slandered Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, by circulating an old photo.
Minister of Communications and Digital Fahmi Fadzil said the owner of the Sam My Facebook account was found to have malicious intent and deliberately created prejudice against the Prime Minister, by posting the picture while associating it with the government’s advice for the people to practice thrift.
“This slanderer has used an old picture (the individual on the right of Abd Rahman Yusof’s picture, my acquaintance has long since passed away on June 8, 2021) in this slander.
“I have requested MCMC and PDRM to investigate immediately,” he said through a post on his Facebook today.
A picture uploaded by the owner of the Sam MY Facebook account yesterday showed a picture of Anwar eating with some individuals claiming that the people were told to eat Rahmah’s menu while the Prime Minister enjoyed a meal of camel meat.
