Maxis, UiTM collaborate to produce high quality digital learning content
MAXIS and Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) are collaborating to produce high-quality digital learning content for Year Four to Form Five students for Maxis’ flagship community program, eKelas.
The collaboration is in line with UiTM’s commitment to provide innovative education to its students, and the collaboration became official through the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement between Maxis and UiTM.
Maxis Chief Executive Officer Goh Seow Eng said the content aspect has always been an important driver for the eKelas program to make learning for students more interesting and effective.
“Maxis is happy to collaborate with UiTM in this mutually beneficial collaboration,” he said in a statement today.
Meanwhile, UiTM Vice-Chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Roziah Mohd Janor said the collaboration will allow students to explore their potential in content preparation and increase knowledge in digital content production, with guidance from experts in this field.
“This is in line with our commitment to provide innovative education to our students. We hope this collaboration will be successful,” he said.
UiTM students will produce up to 100 Science, Mathematics and English videos, which will be uploaded to the eKelas portal and application with the support and guidance of senior lecturers and experts provided by Maxis.
The videos will be produced in the form of experimental real-life character roles, and animations, to make learning more interesting for eClass students, while allowing students to gain valuable hands-on experience in content development.
Last year Maxis and UiTM conducted a pilot workshop to produce learning videos to test the content development process as well as review and editing criteria.
eKelas Maxis is an after-school learning initiative for Year Four to Form Five students especially from rural communities, which will allow them to be exposed to learning Science, Mathematics and English through a combination of live tutorials, group learning and competitions, through the eKelas portal and application.
To date more than 75,000 students have registered with the eKelas portal, and recently Maxis added two subjects; Bahasa Melayu and History, to the eKelas portal and mobile application for Form Four and Five students.
The platform has also been renewed with a more user-friendly interface , more personalized learning suggestions with performance analysis, a game-based learning experience with daily challenges, and also a reward system.
Students are encouraged to register for free with eKelas now at www.ekelas.com.my or download the eKelas mobile application on the App Store or Google Play for free registration.
