MATTA Fair: Melaka targets ticket sales, tourism products worth RM10 million

MELAKA: The Melaka government aims to sell tourism product tickets and hotel room bookings worth RM10 million through the organization of the Malaysian Association of Travel and Tourism Agents (MATTA) Melaka 2022 Exhibition on October 8 and 9.

State Tourism, Heritage and Culture Exco Datuk Muhammad Jailani Thursday said the exhibition organized by MATTA Chapter Melaka in collaboration with Tourism Melaka which will take place at a shopping center in Banda Hilir is also targeting the arrival of 20,000 visitors.

He said 29 exhibitors from inside and outside Melaka will participate in the exhibition including Tourism Pahang and 52 exhibition stands will be set up to promote tourism products and services with discount offers and attractive holiday packages.

“We hope that the organization of MATTA Fair Melaka 2022 will be able to attract more tourists to the state in line with the arrival target of 5.6 million tourists this year.

“In addition, we also hope that Malaysians will take the opportunity to get a tour or holiday package at a cheaper price,” he said at a press conference here today.

Muhammad Jailani said the exhibition will focus on 14 tourism sub-sectors in the state of Malacca, namely history, culture, recreation, sports, shopping, convention, health, education, agro, dining, youth, ecotourism, religion and Malacca: Second Home.

He said the tourism package was offered for group or family tourism in addition to individual packages and the validity period of the package was until 2024.

“I would also like to advise the public to buy travel packages from licensed travel agents or agencies or buy directly at the MATTA Fair which is often organized to avoid becoming a victim of fraud,” he said.

Meanwhile, Muhammad Jailani said ‘Melaka by Sea Carnival 2022’ will take place at Pantai Puteri, Tanjung Kling here for three days starting on 29 October.

He said various sports events were contested such as tug-of-war, Muay Thai, wall climbing, fun running, kayaking and beach volleyball.

“We are targeting a total of 1,200 entries for all the sports events that are contested and 15,000 visitors come to enliven the beach carnival which will be one of the annual Melaka tourism events,” he said.
