
Mat Kilau directed by Syamsul Yusof spent RM8 million, will be the greatest biopic of this millennium
LIKE the saying that dead tigers leave stripes, dead humans leave names, that is what the audience will witness through the latest handiwork of prolific director, Syamsul Yusof.
This latest work published by Studio Kembara presents an important history in the epic biographical film, Mat Kilau.
Mat Kilau’s struggle background is considered very valuable not only to set a record in the world of entertainment, but also to share the greatness and identity of the hero in saving the country to the current generation.
Actor Datuk Adi Putra was given the responsibility to revive the blood of the hero Mat Kilau Imam Rasu or Mat Kilau. He was then assisted by a line -up of non -partisan actors.
These include Wan Hanafi Su as Mat Kilau’s father, namely Tok Gajah, Beto Kusyairy (Wahid), Khir Rahman (Usup), Fattah Amin (Awang), Johan As’ari (Yassin) and Indonesian action actor, Yayan Ruhian as Toga.
The film, which tells the story of a Malay warrior Mat Kilau with his father Tok Gajah and his friends, rose up against the British occupation and was also strengthened by a line-up of the country’s best actors and actresses such as Datuk Jalaluddin Hassan, (Hj. Muhammad), Datuk Rahim Razali, (Imam Bottoqh) ) Namron, (Hj. Sulong), Shaharuddin Thamby, (Datuk Bahaman) and Ellie Suriaty, (Mrs. Yassin).
Costing RM8 million, Mat Kilau underwent filming for 100 days with some taking place in Perak and several other locations including Pahang, Melaka and Selangor.
“As a producer we hope the entire Malaysian community watches this film and is entertained.
“This film directed by Syamsul Yusof will take us back to that era, to feel the hardship, courage, sacrifice and heroic spirit that exists in fighting for our homeland. This is a very inspiring history,” said its producer, Shahruddin Dali.
Mat Kilau was built in the atmosphere of 1892 when the British colonialists were occupying lands in Pahang. The British harvested the fruits of Pahang’s land belonging to the Malays and interfered in the customs and religious affairs of the Malays.
Not allowing British barbarism in Pahang to spread, Mat Kilau, Tok Gajah and his friends rose up against the British.
The ingenuity of Mat Kilau and Tok Gajah in planning the resistance had caused the British to suffer pressure and losses until a fierce battle ensued.
Watch this non-stop action film, which sees the sacrifice, courage, and unity of Malay warriors to liberate their beloved homeland.
The official poster of the film Mat Kilau has been on display since 13 May 2022 on all social sites. While the official trailer will be shown on June 16 for the public. This great film will find viewers in 90 cinemas nationwide starting next June 23.
