MALAYSIA’S PREMIERE PUNK BAND, TROPHY KNIVES, NEW ALBUM RELEASE ‘LOOK THE OTHER WAY’
MALAYSIA’S PREMIERE PUNK BAND, TROPHY KNIVES, ANNOUNCES NEW ALBUM RELEASE SHOW CALLED ‘LOOK THE OTHER WAY’ AT THE BEE, THIS MALAYSIA DAY
The punk rock night will be supported by three of the country’s rock heavyweights, Jemson, An Honest Mistake and Emo Night KL which romises an action-packed show not to missed by music fans and enthusiasts of the genre.
Kuala Lumpur, 5 September 2022 – Trophy Knives today announced that their brand new album, Look The Other Way, is scheduled to be released on the 9 th of September 2022. This is the second studio album for the country’s internationally renowned punk band and the follow-up to 2019’s debut album, Glass Ceiling.
Look The Other Way features 9 blistering tracks that will be available on digital and physical (CD and vinyl) formats. The vinyl version will also include the single We Can’t Be Saved featuring Chris#2 of legendary American punk band, Anti-Flag, as a bonus track. Look The Other Way is jam-packed with a mixture of heavy hitting drum grooves, chaotic guitar playing, omnious synth effects and snarling vocals over melodic choruses that spit bile on complex issues but remains rooted in the ordinary everyday life. Armed with a new perspective on music culminated from various creative collaborations that happened during the lockdown and the exiting of Syamir Ali (previously on bass guitar) from the band, Trophy Knives have found themselves shedding their old skin by exploring territories they’ve never delved into which is evident with this new album. Hailing from Kuala Lumpur, Trophy Knives currently consists of Vinesh M (vocals), Sani Khalid (lead guitar) and Ryan Lee Bhaskaran (drums).
In true celebratory fashion, the band has decided to solemnize the birth of their new record with a one-night-only album release show at The Bee, Publika on the 16 th of September 2022 in conjunction with Malaysia Day, where they will be playing Look the Other Way in its entirety for the very first time!
Joining them on this momentous punk rock night to remember are rock super group Jemson, pop-punk darlings, An Honest Mistake and the trio that needs no introduction, EMO NIGHT KL.
“We are very proud to have our brothers in arms to share the stage with us this 16 September 2022 for the launch of Look The Other Way. Through the years, we’ve learnt that the local scene could not survive without the resilience of these bands and we would like to share this milestone with them. Plus, we have all not shared a stage with each other for so long due to the global pandemic so this feels perfect to all of us”, quips Ryan Lee.
Explaining his mindset going into the album launch, lead singer, Vinesh says, “It is only natural that we chose this date to launch the album because representation truly does matters. As a band, we are more than willing to take up the responsibility to discuss issues relating to human interests openly. At the very least, our fans and those who attended the show should leave the venue with a renewed sense of freedom and strength. But of course, since it is ultimately a rock show, we hope that you would celebrate this moment with us and rock out as much as you can”.
Look The Other Way is set to hit streaming platforms on the 9th of September 2022 and will feature nine (9) tracks including the singles Elder Snakesman, the title track Look the Other Way, Smokescreen featuring Nas of Plague Of Happiness, as well as High Horses.
