Malaysia Day celebrations will be held alternately in each state
The CABINET agreed that the national level Malaysia Day celebrations should be held in turn in each state, said Communications and Multimedia Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa.
He said the move was to give all Malaysian families the opportunity to celebrate the historic celebration in their respective states and for this edition, Melaka was chosen as the host.
Annuar who is also the Chairman of the National Day and Malaysia Day 2022 Main Committee said the celebration this time was different because it was held in the peninsula for the first time because as usual Malaysia Day was held in Sabah and Sarawak alternately.
“This step was taken because we want all the people to be able to celebrate this celebration with joy in their respective states in the spirit of the Malaysian Family and also understand the meaning of the sacred date of Sept 16.
“We are grateful that this celebration can be celebrated with great enthusiasm after two years of being plagued by the spread of COVID-19… surely this celebration in Melaka will be the most beautiful memories and a history of its own in a state full of history,” he said.
He said this through a video speech broadcast at the Malaysia Day 2022 celebration at the Declaration of Independence Memorial Square, Banda Hilir here tonight.
Annuar hopes that the celebration of Malaysia Day with the theme of Malaysian Family Strong Together can be enjoyed by all members of the Malaysian Family and live in peace and unity in inclusion, togetherness and full of gratitude.
He said the concept was in the recipe for strength and unity organized by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob to ensure Malaysia’s prosperity.
The celebration of Malaysia Day 2022 will be held for the first time in the Peninsula with Melaka hosting the event.
