Malaysia Culinary World Cup 2023 set a record in Guinness World Records
KUALA LUMPUR : Malaysia Culinary World Cup 2023 organized by the United Malaysian Culinary Association (MBCA) created a name in the Guinness World Records when it successfully held the largest simultaneous cooking competition in the world.
The event involved 731 local and international participants including from Morocco, Saudi Arabia and Egypt which lasted for three days from February 21 to February 23 at the World Trade Center Kuala Lumpur.
The announcement of the new world record was made by the official Guinness World Record judge, John Garland, who also presented the certificate to MBCA President, Arthur Lim.
The ceremony was also witnessed by Senior Deputy Director, Package Development Division, Tourism Malaysia, Sulaiman Suip.
The announcement of the record also ended the three-day competition.
One of the competitions on the last day of the event was an open category for both teams of professional chefs from hotels, culinary academies and colleges each tasked with creating and presenting a unique gourmet menu.
The competition’s nine main categories and 62 subcategories are judged on various aspects such as innovation, taste, cleanliness, Mise-En-Place and technique.
MBCA also intends to hold the competition once a year to highlight the global culinary scene in addition to creating sustainable economic prospects for local and international food industry companies.
