Lorong Seni @ Lorong Panglima needs continuous promotion to attract more visitors

IPOH: Just mention Concubine Lane, many people can say that the unique place is located in Ipoh, displaying various art-based items to visitors.

However, perhaps not many people know, in front of it, there is a lane called Lorong Seni that sells various works of art related to Ipoh, Perak and Malaysia.

Located on Jalan Panglima, right next to Medan Selera Dato’ Sagor, the lane will start operating in July 2022 but unfortunately, the number of visitors is not as lively as Concubine Lane.

Is it because of the rain that caused not many visitors last Saturday or the lack of promotion made many people unaware of the existence of Lorong Seni?

That question can probably be answered by those who manage it, especially the state government because if judged on the location, it is quite strategic because it is located in the middle between two popular tourist locations in Ipoh.

In fact, the product is also unique because it is the handiwork of the dealer himself and of course cannot be bought in other locations.

For a trader, Soon Woon Sin, he admits that business there is not that bad but thinks that promotion needs to be done vigorously because according to him, there is not much promotion involving the tourist area.

“This week is a holiday, right, so there will be a few people. If it’s a normal week, there’s business but a little less.

“(What is needed?) More promotion. I think publicity is not enough anymore because many people don’t know.

“I don’t even know if friends don’t tell me. I only saw it once in the newspaper, that was during the opening ceremony, I saw it in the newspaper, after that it was gone. SOAT OUT

Another trader, Muhamad Syukri Samsuddin, said that the products from the Tangsi Studio and the Al-Biruni Gallery of Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Seri Iskandar were well received, but continued promotion still needed to be done.

Among the products, handmade products sold in the alley.

“If you want to give more visitors, maybe extend the time. Join us just starting in July, Plan B (Concubine Lane) has been around for a long time, Plan B is better known in this area.

“If we want to increase the number of visitors, we need to increase the number of products produced,” he said.

Meanwhile, some visitors were found enjoying being in the alley because the atmosphere, culture and artworks sold are not the same as other places.

“The things here, like some of these edges, painting stones, which are made creatively, are really fun, I’m really interested in such creative things,” said private employee, Jefry Am Rizal.

Another visitor from Selangor, Muhammad Ehsan Ismed said, the uniqueness of the alley is not found in Selangor.

“What we see here is really beautiful. When it goes viral, we keep coming here. This area is really beautiful, unique. In Selangor, we don’t have areas like this.

The products sold in Lorong Seni highlight products related to Ipoh, Perak and Malaysia.

“The culture here is also beautiful, every street has its own art. This is heaven for art lovers,” he said.

Lorong Seni @ Lorong Panglima operates every Saturday from 8am to 1pm and for art lovers, maybe this is the right location for you.

However, for sure, continuous promotion needs to be done and the new government that will be formed later needs to emphasize on continuing to develop the lane.
