Legendary anime franchise returns: ‘Black Rock Shooter Dawn Fall’ streaming on Disney+ Hotstar

KUALA LUMPUR – After years of excitement and overwhelming demand from fans, the legendary Black Rock Shooter franchise has returned to screens with an all-new storyline on Disney+ Hotstar.
Set in a dystopian future where the human race has been overthrown by a rogue artificial intelligence, and humanity’s last hope, Black Rock Shooter, disappeared long ago, only weeks remain until the last dregs of the resistance are wiped off the planet forever.
Starring Yui Ishikawa, Saori Hayami and Megumi Han, Black Rock Shooter Dawn Fall is now streaming on Disney+ Hotstar.
In the not-so-distant future, a rogue artificial intelligence (AI) designed to help mankind turns on its creators, declaring war and wiping out the majority of the human race.
While the resistance to the machines was initially strong, helped by Empress aka Black Rock Shooter and her team, her sudden disappearance over 16 years ago resulted in the near extinction of the human race.
With only a few weeks remaining, until the AI can unleash its final blow against the humans, hope on Earth is all but gone. Awakening from a prolonged slumber, Black Rock Shooter has no idea who she is, what she can do, or what remains of the planet she once worked so hard to protect.
With time ticking away, will she be able to turn the tide and save the planet before it’s too late?
Starring Yui Ishikawa (Violet Evergarden, Attack on Titan) as the voice of Black Rock Shooter; Saori Hayami (Demon Slayer, My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU) as the voice of Dead Master, Megumi Han (Hunter x Hunter, Fruit Basket) as the voice of Strength; Takuya Kirimoto (Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure Part 3, Stardust Crusaders) as the voice of The Colonel; Ayaka Asai (Welcome to Demon School!) as the voice of Monica, and Misaki Kuno (March Comes in Like a Lion) as the voice of Blacktrike, Black Rock Shooter Dawn Fall is written by Makoto Fukami (Biohazard: Vendetta, Psycho-Pass) and directed by Tensho (Kin-Iro Mosaic).
Based on the original illustrations by Huke, Black Rock Shooter Dawn Fall is the latest local Japanese production to be announced as part of Disney’s 2022 APAC content slate. Fans of Japanese content can also look forward to the previously announced debut of My Family on May 25.
There is also the upcoming winter release of Gannibal, a nail-biting live-action adaptation of the hit manga series about dark and mysterious disappearances in a remote Japanese village.
