Leaked Twitter source code, shared online for months
WASHINGTON: Part of Twitter’s source code has been shared publicly online for several months, Sputnik cites The New York Times report .
GitHub, an online platform for software developers where the code was posted, took down the code on Friday at the request of Twitter.
Sources told the newspaper that the individual responsible for the code leak left Twitter last year.
Twitter asked the US District Court for the Northern District of California to order GitHub to identify the individuals who shared the code, as well as those who downloaded it.
According to The New York Times, the source code, which is the basic computer code used by Twitter, contains information that reveals certain security vulnerabilities that allow hackers to attack, extract user data, or shut down the site.
