Langkawi Premium Outlet is ready this October
KUALA LUMPUR: Bina Darulaman Bhd (BDB) expects the Langkawi Premium Outlet (LPO) phase one project to be completed by the end of October this year.
BDB Executive Chairman Che Had Dhali said the stage of preparation for the project had reached 95 per cent.
“I am very happy about the opening of this project and 36 of the 38 LPO units have been successfully leased to local entrepreneurs, this is a good development for BDB,” he said.
At the same time, he said the second phase of the project is expected to be completed in 2024 covering a total area of 17.40 hectares.
“Currently, we use more than 10 percent of the land to house 38 units of shops or outlets in addition to suraus, rest areas, foyers and so on,” he said.
In September last year, BDB had announced that a joint venture company with the Kedah Menteri Besar Corporation (MBI), BDBMBI Langkawi Ventures Sdn Bhd would develop an integrated ‘Premium Outlet’ commercial project covering business space, food and beverage and recreational facilities in Langkawi.
BDB Group President and Chief Executive Officer Faris Najhan Hashim said the project in collaboration with the Langkawi Development Authority (LADA) would be developed at Padang Matsirat, next to Langkawi International Airport.
Meanwhile, Che Had hoped that the results of the working visit to Bernama could forge cooperation and good relations between his party and the media.
“Through this media, we have a target to enhance BDB’s own brand,” he said, adding that BDB also organizes many programs involving Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), which is BDB’s close collaboration with the community.
