KUIS was upgraded to a full university, now known as UIS
SHAH ALAM: Selangor International Islamic University College (KUIS) which was established in 1995 has been upgraded to a full university and is now known as Selangor International Islamic University (UIS) starting today.
Selangor Islamic Religious Council (MAIS) chairman Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusof said the upgrade was made after the Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah agreed to appear before the Secretary General of the Ministry of Higher Education (KPT) Datuk Seri Abdul Razak Jaafar to present the official certificate of upgrading KUIS to UIS , at Istana Bukit Kayangan, here, yesterday.
He said the upgrade proves that UIS is an institution comparable to other institutions of higher learning (HEIs) and he hopes that the university will always maintain the momentum of excellence and maximize the production of outstanding students in the professional field as well as great in the Islamic religion.
“UIS needs to always take comprehensive steps and take opportunities in order to prove that its 27 years of experience in managing higher education will realize success after success when it becomes a university.
“MAIS is also calling on parents and students out there to choose UIS as one of the priority institutions to continue their Islamic Sharia-based studies in Selangor,” he said in a statement today.
UIS is an IPT fully owned by the Islamic Religious Council of Selangor (MAIS) which was officially established on 15 February 1995 under the Private Higher Education Institutions Act 1996, offering various study programs at the Foundation, Diploma, Bachelor, Master and Doctor of Philosophy levels as well as fulfilling the certification The Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) includes Islamic studies, business studies, Islamic banking, education, communication, and information technology.
