Kris Dayanti, Harvey Malaiholo, Marcell among the candidates for the 2024 Indonesian election
JAKARTA: Famous Indonesian artists such as Kris Dayanti, Rano Karno, Harvey Malaiholo, Marcell Siahaan, Once Mekel and several other names have registered to try their luck as candidates for Parliament in the 2024 General Election.
The Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) in particular has confirmed that 14 celebrities will compete under the political party’s banner.
“There are about 14 cultural figures, artists and artists who have proven to have very strong competition,” said Setiausaha Agung PDIP, Hasto Kristiyanto, as reported by an Indonesian news portal.
The 14 artists competing on behalf of the PDIP are as follows:
1. Rano Karno 2. Rieke Diah Pitaloka 3. Kris Dayanti 4. Harvey Malaihollo 5. Junico Siahaan 6. Once Mekel 7. Marcell Siahaan 8. Taufik Hidayat Udjo 9. Denny Cagur 10. Tamara Geraldine 11. Sari Yok Koeswoyo Koes Plus 12 , Andre Hehanusa 13. Lucky Prime 14. Roni Sianturi
According to Hasto, all the candidates have undergone a leadership program and are expected to be able to help win votes from the people in all regions of Indonesia.
“Those nominated have attended political education and leadership programs and were reminded that the duties of elected representatives must be in line with the role of national leaders in bringing about the progress of Greater Indonesia,” he explained.
In addition to PDIP which featured 14 artists, another political party, the National Democratic Party (Nasdem) led by elite figures, Surya Paloh also did not miss out on giving opportunities to a number of artists including singers, drama actors, film directors and television presenters.
Among them are well-known lawyers, Choky Sitohang; dangdut singer, Annisa Bahar; singer Reza Artamevia and drama actor Ali Syakieb.
