King Charles III mourned by his mother’s coffin, paying his last respects for 10 minutes
EDINBURGH: King Charles III paid his last respects beside the coffin of his mother Queen Elizabeth II in an emotional atmosphere at St Giles Cathedral, here, on Monday evening local time.
Citing the Mail Online report , King Charles III along with his siblings Princess Anne, Prince Edward, and Prince Andrew stood in silence for 10 minutes as a final tribute to the late Queen Elizabeth II.
King Charles III who was installed as the new King of Britain was seen wearing a military honor uniform along with a tartan cloth (traditional clothing designed for men in Scotland) which was given the special name, Prince Charles Edward Stuart Tartan.
According to sources from the Scottish Tartan Designs Registration Department, the special tartan that King Charles III is wearing is from the Royal Tartan Stewart collection.
Tartan cloth began to be widely used since the reign of King George VI who wore tartan cloth during his first visit to Scotland in 1822.
Meanwhile, thousands of Britons were outside the church to pay their last respects throughout the night.
Queen Elizabeth II breathed her last at her holiday home in Balmoral, Scotland, last Thursday before her coffin was taken to St Giles Church.
