Kevin Spacey ordered to pay US$31 million to the producers of ‘House of Cards’

LOS ANGELES: Actor Kevin Spacey and his production company have been ordered to pay US$31 million to the producers of the ‘House of Cards’ series for losses caused by his dismissal following allegations of sexual misconduct involving him.

The order was issued by Los Angeles Superior Court judge Mel Red Recana.

In his judgment, Recana informed Spacey and his line of lawyers failed to prove that his dismissal did not cause loss.

The arbitrator in this case also found Spacey to have a breach of contract claim when engaging in alleged misconduct.
It got Spacey fired.

His dismissal also led to the suspension of the series ‘House of Cards’ for the sixth season.

Spacey’s character in the series also had to be removed.

This change caused the producers of the series to suffer losses.

The 63-year-old Oscar winner’s career was hit after the #metoo movement exposed his misconduct.

Last month, Spacey pleaded not guilty in court in London to allegations of molesting three men.

Several criminal cases were also filed against Spacey.
