Ketereh Digital Hub will become an e-commerce, e-learning education center

KUALA LUMPUR: The Ministry of Communications and Multimedia (K-KOM) will launch the Ketereh Digital Hub in Kelantan as an education center to increase skills and strengthen e-commerce and e-learning among the community.

Located at the Kelantan Poverty Foundation (YKK) Complex in Melor, the digital hub will be launched by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob on Saturday, which will be attended by Communications and Multimedia Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa and Ketereh Member of Parliament.

The digital hub is a collaboration between YTL Foundation, YES by YTL Communications, Shopee, K-KOM and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) who have a vision to create a hub from the existing community center in Ketereh.

A YES official told Bernama that the company sees it as an opportunity to showcase high-speed Internet connectivity to the community by providing 5G technology and data to power the digital hub.

“The Ketereh Digital Hub will be a one-stop center that allows the community to have free access to enjoy the 5G high-speed internet experience, training tools for e-commerce and quality online learning programs.

“Through Shopee University and ‘Be a Boss with Shopee’, entrepreneurs will be trained to succeed in the digital market,” he said.

In addition, he said the digital hub will also offer a Frog Classroom, a 5G connected learning space that will encourage students to take advantage of technology, creativity, collaborative learning, critical thinking and communication through an after-school learning program called KelasKita.

“KelasKita will conduct the learning of Bahasa Malaysia, English, Mathematics and Science to help students improve their knowledge since they are studying alongside other KelasKita community students across the country,” he said.

He said the long-term goal of establishing the digital center is to expand it throughout Malaysia, offering more opportunities to the entire community in Malaysia to participate in the 5G movement and increase digital literacy skills.
