Kelantan to expand ‘Tek-C’ hybrid rickshaw service by 2024 – Exco
KOTA BHARU: Kelantan will expand the use of ‘Tek-C’ hybrid tourist rickshaws that use solar energy as an energy source by 2024, said the Chairman of the Community Unity, Culture, Heritage and Tourism Committee, Major (B) Datuk Md Anizam Ab Rahman.
He said there is currently a hybrid rickshaw that is still in the trial process and if it proves viable to be implemented, the addition of 10 Tek-C rickshaws will be done.
“This rickshaw is also equipped with a radio and loudspeaker and will be decorated with colorful lights to attract the attention of both international and domestic tourists.
“I hope this rickshaw industry can also attract the attention of young local people to venture into it,” he told reporters after presenting an incentive donation of RM600 to 17 veteran tourist rickshaw drivers registered with the Kelantan Tourism Information Center (TIC), here today.
Commenting further, Md Anizam said these rickshaws will be placed around tourist attractions in Kelantan such as Kampung Laut Heritage Site, Tumpat.
