KBS advises e-sports participants to participate in the survey
KUALA LUMPUR: The Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS) suggests Malaysians who are active or have been involved in e-sports to participate in an online survey that aims to gather information and views about the sports ecosystem in the country.
Its minister Hannah Yeoh said the results of the survey will be utilized and used by the ministry for the development of policies and strategies related to sports in the future.
“A comprehensive study of the local e-sports ecosystem is essential to gain deep understanding and critical information that was previously unknown, in addition to ensuring that all decisions made are data-driven.
“As Malaysian e-sports players continue to achieve success at the regional and international level, it is important to look inward to gauge the growth potential of the Malaysian market and its future impact on the economy, youth development and sports,” he said in a statement.
The statement informed that the survey through the Esports Integrated (ESI) initiative and the Malaysian Youth Research Institute (IYRES) which was launched last December to February this year, also aimed to collect demographic, psychographic information and the financial impact on the sports fans.
According to the statement, the survey will then be followed up with the formation of a Technical Working Group (TWG) consisting of local e-sports experts and stakeholders in March for the purpose of focus group discussions, in addition to understanding the ecosystem at a deeper and technical level.
The online questionnaire is open to all Malaysians who are interested in e-sports or have played any game in the sport, and can be accessed via the link https://bit.ly/esportsmy.
