Kanjuruhan Stadium riots: Stop saying ‘those who win live, those who lose die’
MANAGER of the Arema FC football team, Ali Fikri asked the community not to continue pointing fingers at each other in the riot incident at the Kanjuruhan Stadium, Malang, last Saturday.
Citing a Kompas report , Ali who was found at the Kanjuruhan stadium grounds in Malang was seen shedding tears remembering the tragedy of the riots that claimed 125 civilian lives.
“Please stop saying that winners live and losers die. Please respect people’s work. Whatever the score, we must accept it,” he said.
In the meantime, Ali Fikri and his team had tears in their eyes when they sowed flowers in the stadium grounds, today.
Meanwhile, the coach of Arema FC, Javier Roca who also cried when met by the Indonesian media said that this kind of incident should not happen.
“I think this is enough. This tragedy should be used as a lesson so that all parties can start from scratch,” he said in a disappointed tone.
After finishing sowing flowers, players and coaches entered the Kanjuruhan Stadium and prayed together.
