Datuk Kamil Othman appointed new Finas chairman
He is tasked with improving organisation as local film industry faces several challenges
KUALA LUMPUR: The Ministry of Communications and Digital Malaysia (KKD) announced the appointment of Datuk Kamil Othman as the new Chairman of the Malaysian National Film Development Corporation (FINAS).
Kamil’s appointment to replace senator Datuk Seri Zurainah Musa whose service was canceled with effect last December.
Confirming this, the Minister of Communications and Digital, Fahmi Fadzil in a statement on Facebook congratulated Kamil on his appointment.
“Congratulations to Datuk Kamil Othman on his appointment as the new Chairman of the Malaysian National Film Development Corporation (FINAS).
“Datuk Kamil Othman is no stranger to the industry, having held the position of CEO of FINAS,” he said.
In the meantime, he will meet Kamil next week to discuss several matters including the direction of FINAS, as well as examine the findings and remarks of the Auditor General’s report for improvements and corrections.
Meanwhile, he informed that the position of Chairman of the FINAS Mandatory Screening Scheme will be appointed as soon as possible.
For the record, Kamil once held the position of FINAS director from 2014 to 2016.
