JOYÀ by Cirque du Soleil celebrates its 8th anniversary as the only resident show in Mexico since its premiere at Vidanta Riviera Maya
With more than 2,430 performances and around 1,135,500 visitors since 2014, JOYÀ celebrated another year as the only Cirque du Soleil resident show in Mexico, reaching eight years as the place where families and friends gather to share unforgettable moments.

RIVIERA MAYA, Mexico , Dec. 6, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — Cirque du Soleil JOYÀ celebrates its eighth anniversary as the first Cirque du Soleil resident show in Latin America, the first show of its kind at a resort and the only show in the Cirque du Soleil which includes an immersive culinary experience. JOYÀ is a tribute to Mexico, a creative conquest, a celebration of nature and a tribute to the power of friendship and family. Throughout the JOYÀ seasons, Cirque du Soleil has brought together for this show a team of the best acrobats, aerialists, artists, jugglers, dancers, singers and technicians from different parts of the world, such as Mongolia , Ukraine, France , Spain , England, Japan, Argentina , Cuba , Brazil , China , Colombia , the United States and, of course, Mexico.

To celebrate the first eight years of this fantastic show at Vidanta Riviera Maya, Cirque du Soleil JOYÀ has prepared a list for the public to learn more curious facts about the best of this world:
More than two thousand 430 functions have been presented
The show has been enjoyed by more than one million 135 thousand 500 visitors
The production of JOYÀ is possible thanks to more than 300 collaborators of more than 20 nationalities , who participate on and off stage.
The construction of the theater for this experience took 18 months and that of the set lasted half a year .
Around 360 thousand dinners have been served. One of the biggest challenges is taken on by the waiters, who must prepare for the second performance in the dark.
The three-course menu that satisfies all the senses through extraordinary flavors and local products, has vegetarian and vegan options, in addition to gluten-free foods. The menu card is edible!
Every night around 200 bottles of champagne are consumed and approximately 1,428 gourmet canapés are served per function.
For the show, a total of 100 costumes were made by hand, which required an admirable work of 15,000 hours.
The masks used by the Zelig masters are made with more than 10,000 jewels glued by hand one by one.
35 theater technicians and 33 full-time artists are part of the JOYÀ team, and they rehearse four times a week .
Artists do their own makeup! They use more than 110 colors and apply it over 30 steps .
Within the work team, six people are dedicated to maintaining the artists’ wardrobe impeccably .
The melodies are sung in an invented language that refers to the cultural diversity of the world
References to Mexican culture could not be missing, so there are hidden symbols of Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera , allusions to the stories of Octavio Paz and Carlos Fuentes , as well as nods to the work of Guillermo del Toro .
