Jeremy Renner out of surgery for blunt chest trauma, still in intensive care
The Marvel star was involved in a weather-related accident on New Year’s Day
JEREMY Renner is out of surgery after suffering blunt chest trauma and orthopedic injuries in a weather-related accident, according to a statement from his representatives. He remains in intensive care in “critical but stable condition”.
“Jeremy’s family would like to express their gratitude to the incredible doctors and nurses looking after him, Truckee Meadows Fire and Rescue, Washoe County Sheriff, Reno City Mayor Hillary Schieve and the Carano and Murdock families,” the statement said.
“They are also tremendously overwhelmed and appreciative of the outpouring of love and support from his fans.”
Renner was involved in a weather-related accident near Reno, Nevada on New Year’s Day morning. After being flown by helicopter to a nearby medical centre, he underwent emergency surgery.
“Upon arrival, Deputies coordinated with Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District and REMSA Health to arrange for medical transport of Mr. Jeremy Renner via care flight to a local area hospital,” the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office said.
“Mr. Renner was the only involved party in the incident.”
The ‘Hawkeye’ actor has owned a home in the area for several years. The region was hit by heavy snowfall on New Year’s Eve, with more than 31,000 people losing power.
Most famously known for playing Hawkeye in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (including leading a Disney show), he currently stars in the drama series ‘Mayor of Kingstown’.
Renner was also nominated for two Oscars in back-to-back years with The Hurt Locker (which won Best Picture of that year) in 2010, and received a Supporting Actor Oscar in the following year for the crime thriller The Town.
