Jalan TAR is closed every Sunday

Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) will close Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman (TAR) from the intersection of Jalan Esfahan to the intersection of Jalan Melayu every Sunday.

Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) said the decision was taken to make it one of the vehicle-free locations and create a pedestrian area in the middle of the city center in order to make Kuala Lumpur a low-carbon city.

“The closure will be implemented every Sunday from 6 am to 12 pm,” he said in a statement today.

According to DBKL, as a trial measure, the closure of this road will start on August 28, this Sunday and will be enlivened with various programs.

“Various filling programs are also planned to be implemented during the closure of the road including street music performances ( buskers ), creative art performances, handicrafts and traditional sports such as hajj checkers.

“The location around Jalan TAR will also be decorated with street furniture and facilities as well as space for visitors to relax, rest and take pictures,” he said.

Adding to the statement, visitors who want to go to Jalan TAR and its surroundings are advised to use public transport to avoid traffic congestion.
