Izzue Islam praises the 12 actions of the KL2022 Flash Flood Mitigation Plan

The Ministry of Federal Territories (KWP) has implemented the drastic action of the KL2022 Flash Flood Mitigation Plan to overcome the flood problem in Kuala Lumpur.

KWP through the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) as well as the agencies involved have maximized operations and quick resolution measures at an immediate rate.

As a resident of Kuala Lumpur, versatile celebrity, Izzue Islam, 32, admits to feeling a change after several steps have been taken by the government.

“Who remembers December last year if I’m not mistaken, the flood in Kuala Lumpur was also bad. Due to the big flood last year, DBKL and KWP implemented 12 short-term action plans for this flood.

“As a result, from the previous 31 flood hotspots, there are only three hotspots left that sometimes rise when it rains continuously. Be careful these rainy seasons,” shared Izzue through her Instagram.

Izzue also made a post on Instagram by uploading a video showing 12 short-term flood action plans in Kuala Lumpur.

“Among them is placing traffic wardens in designated areas. This is important for flood preparedness. The government has also widened and added scupper drains to facilitate the flow of water into the drainage system. So it is not stagnant water.

“Not only that, DBKL has also installed mobile water pumps to transfer water to other areas. This is an interesting idea that can be emulated by other places.

“Frequent activities such as cleaning and upgrading drains are also a wise move. It plays a role in smoothing the waterway to the drainage system,” said Izzue again.

He added that the government is also dredging silt and cleaning reservoirs and rivers to maintain the capacity of reservoirs.

“The installation of flap gates, placing sandbags and flash flood warning messages through the MOBIS application are also among the very effective measures in overcoming floods in Kuala Lumpur,” he said.
