Istana Budaya offers special price (Harga Rahmah) for a classical music concert
KUALA LUMPUR: Fans of classical music orchestras have the opportunity to watch the A Celebration of Classical Music Lambang Sari Series 2023 concert performed at the prestigious Istana Budaya stage for as low as RM30.
Director General of Istana Budaya, Zubaidah Mukhtar said, the special price is expected to attract more audiences from various walks of life to enjoy music synonymous with the upper class.
“We also want to fulfill the wishes of the government which wants the people to enjoy tickets at reasonable prices or Rahmah prices in addition to celebrating the 30th anniversary of the National Symphony Orchestra (OSK).
“Usually the cheapest price for orchestra concert tickets is around RM180, but we want to give exposure to all sections of society,” she said at the concert’s press conference here on Tuesday.
She said, the orchestral concert themed on western classical music included four series of performances by playing well-known western songs.
Zubaidah said the first series will take place on July 8 while the second series on Sept 9, the third series (Oct 21) and the fourth series (Nov 18). The performance will start at 8.30pm at the Sari Theater, Istana Budaya.
Each series features different songs in addition to highlighting different soloists and among the songs to be performed are songs composed by Bach, Mozart and the Dittersdorf Harp Concerto involving 25 OSK musicians and 10 guest musicians.
“Even though the ticket price is cheap, the quality of the performance remains top notch.
“The Sari Theater can accommodate up to 1,300 spectators at a time and we encourage the audience to buy a promotional package for RM100 covering all four performances on the Istana Budaya website,” she said.
