Irmohizam received the BrandLeadership Award recognition
KUALA LUMPUR: The Managing Director of the World Trade Center (WTC) Kuala Lumpur, Datuk Seri Dr Irmohizam Ibrahim received the “BrandLeadership Award” recognition for his role that had an impact and contributed significantly to the development and success of the Business Events Industry (BE) in Malaysia.
Irmohizam who is also the Protem President of the Business Events Council of Malaysia (BECM) is recognized for his continuous efforts to fight for the economy of business events at the domestic and international level as Chairman of Conferences and Exhibitions at the World Trade Centers Association (WTCA) based in New York.
In addition, he together with the Chief Executive Officer of WTCKL, Yusri Junos was also recognized through the “Nation’s Pride Brand of The Year” award.
The award was presented at The BrandLaureate Awards Gala Dinner held at Hotel Majestic, here, yesterday.
“We must remain agile in adapting to the current business climate and we must take the right steps to revitalize the Business Events industry, increase our visibility, and assist in accelerating socioeconomic growth.
“Now is the right time for us to vigorously support the interests of this industry and actively promote the growth of Business Events, as well as invest in human capital and new event technology” said Irmohizam.
This recognition shows excellence and is expected to contribute to economic stimulation and industrial activity as well as aggressively promote Malaysia to be known as one of the hubs of business events at the international level.
He took over WTCKL in 2018 and a year later, Irmohizam led a large-scale rebranding exercise incorporating the WTCA Standard Brand Guidelines thus transforming WTCKL.

As the Protem President of BECM, he uses his extensive experience together with assistance from the Malaysian Convention and Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB) and industry players to establish Business Event Standards in Malaysia.
The initiative was pioneered to ensure the level of professionalism, compliance and standards in the industry now under the jurisdiction of the Malaysian Standards Department (JSM).
WTCKL in a media statement issued said, Malaysia will be the first country in Southeast Asia to have an official Business Event Standard.
WTCKL is a Kuala Lumpur landmark convention center steeped in history and famous for its diverse events.
The management of the premises had previously collaborated with the Malaysian Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, the COVID-19 Immunization Task Force, under the National COVID-19 Immunization Program.
The last three years have seen the BE industry grow significantly to meet the new norms of post-pandemic life.
WTCKL has been awarded the Cleanliness and Safety Label “Safe Business Event (SafeBE)” by Bureau Veritas (M) Sdn Bhd.
The Malaysian Association of Convention and Exhibition Organizers and Suppliers (MACEOS) launched the Safe Business Event (SafeBE) Certification Program to foster public confidence and support the country’s economic recovery in business events.
This certification will only be given to exhibition and convention centers that meet the strict SOP set by the National Security Council (MKN) and recommendations by the Malaysian health agency, and independently audited by Bureau Veritas (M) Sdn Bhd.
This accreditation shows WTCKL’s seriousness in emphasizing the level of cleanliness and safety in its premises.
Besides taking advantage of the series of World Trade Centers, WTCKL has also taken part in world-renowned exhibitions such as IMEX 2022 in Frankfurt and Incentive Business Travels & Meetings (IBTM) in Barcelona to actively promote WTCKL around the world.
