Ipoh-born figures from the ‘Hall of Fame’, including Michelle Yeoh

IPOH: The Ipoh City Council (MBI) plans to establish a ‘Hall of Fame’ or a special museum to honor figures born in this city who succeeded in making the country famous.

The mayor of Ipoh, Datuk Rumaizi Baharin said, among the line-up of figures was Tan Sri Michelle Yeoh who was announced as the Best Actress at the 95th Academy Awards (Oscars) recently.

“We congratulate and well done to Michelle. Indeed, if possible, for me, she is an influence on the city of Ipoh itself.

“He brought the name of this city to the international level. With the success achieved, we hope that the name of Ipoh will grow further, to attract international tourists here.

“To create a museum, we have a proposal, and we are looking into some suitable figures. Maybe we will create a Hall of Fame, not only for Michelle, but there are several other individuals.

“Actually in Ipoh, there are a few more big names that we can place once,” he told the media after completing the pre-launch of Green Green Restaurant and Cafe in Bandar Meru Raya here yesterday.

Michelle or her real name, Yeoh Choo Kheng, 61 years old, was named Best Actress for her strong performance as Evelyn Quan Wang in the movie ‘Everything Everywhere All at Once’.

Even more proud, the Ipoh-born actress is the first Asian actress to hold the prestigious trophy.
