Instagram back after rectifying ‘technical issue’ behind global outage

Thousands of users reportedly affected by problem

While Meta did not say how many users were affected, Downdetector.com showed more than 100,000 incidents in the US, 24,000 in Canada and more than 56,000 in the UK.

LONDON: Instagram suffered a global outage with more than 50,000 users reporting the issue just before 11pm on Sunday, German news agency (dpa) reported.

Down Detector, a website that tracks outages, received 56,628 reports around 11pm (2200 GMT).

Instagram owner Meta has yet to address the outages or state if Instagram will recover.

According to Down Detector, 92 percent of outages occur on applications, six percent on financial sites and two percent on login.

Users cannot refresh their Instagram feed.

Instagram experienced an outage on March 9 where thousands of users reported the same issue.
