Inisiatif Malaysia Digital earns rm42 billion FDI in 2 months – PM
BAYAN BARU: The Malaysia Digital Initiative (MD) successfully achieved a value of Digital Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) of RM42 billion within two months since it was launched last July.
The Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said that the value was generated through the investment of 28 foreign companies consisting of companies in the Data Center, IT Service Provider, Creative Content Technology and Global Business Services (GBS) sectors.
“This success is very important in the recovery process of the country’s economy, because it will create job opportunities with high knowledge, help boost innovation and further boost the digital economy.
“Meanwhile, the development of Domestic Direct Digital Investment, as of 24 August 2022, has recorded as much as RM4.76 billion.
“Through this effort, as many as 6,000 high-value job opportunities have been created and these opportunities will continue to increase in the future,” he said when officiating the Technology and Innovation Congress (WCIT) 2022, here, today.
Commenting further, Ismail Sabri said that all the positive achievements have put Malaysia in the best position to achieve the digital investment target of RM70 billion by 2025, in line with Malaysia’s Digital Economy Blueprint.
He said, by having world-class infrastructure, a holistic digital ecosystem and highly knowledgeable digital talent, Malaysia is capable of becoming a major digital investment destination at the ASEAN level.
