Indian concerts in Malaysia increase the arrival of foreign tourists

KUALA LUMPUR: The Indian concert held in Malaysia recently became a catalyst for the arrival of foreign tourists to the country.

The concert by Santhosh Narayanan – the music director of the Rajinikanth-starrer Kabali – is expected to attract around 13,000 spectators including 2,000 foreigners.

The 39-year-old Indian music director will arrive in Kuala Lumpur next month for his first international concert, ‘Sounds of the South’ on March 18 at 6pm at the Axiata Arena.

The director of Reacch Productions Sdn Bhd, Suresh Subramaniam who is the organizer of the concert, said several local singers and dancers will perform with Santhosh during the main segment of the show as a measure to recognize local talent in Malaysia.

“We expect about 13,000 people to attend the ‘Sounds of the South’ concert, including 2,000 foreign tourists from Singapore and India,” he told Bernama.

Santhosh, popularly known as SaNa by his fans has received many Indian film industry awards, is known for his musical background and prowess in playing traditional folk instruments including song compositions that give a different feel.

He was the song composer for the film Kabali – a film shot entirely in Malaysia – where the song Nerupada and the film’s theme song became an all-time favorite.

The ‘Sounds of the South’ concert in Kuala Lumpur will be Santhosh’s first international concert, featuring some of his most popular songs – along with songs that have never been heard before.

Suresh said the concert will create a magical moment for the audience in Malaysia, with such a stage that will give the audience a 360-degree view.

“The sound design, the lighting program and the screen are well planned to provide an international performance standard (and) will engage the attention of the audience in order to obtain an unforgettable experience,” he said.

Santhosh will also perform alongside Australian singer Dheekshitha Venkadeshan also known as Dhee, who is famous for a song called ‘Enjoy Enjaami’.

Organizers also involved Instagram Meta Developers as a new method of social media marketing.

Instagram users can go to the @reacch.asia Instagram page and try out the newly launched ‘filter’ by scanning the “Sounds of the South” logo.
